A julep is simply a mixed drink sweetened with syrup – but the mere word conjures up images of ante-bellum cotton plantations and a long-gone, leisurely and gracious way of life.
INGREDIENT:
Fresh mint leaves
1 tbsp sugar syrup
6-8 cracked ice cubes
3 measures bourbon whiskey
Fresh mint sprig, to decorate
METHOD:
1. Put the mint leaves and sugar syrup into a small, chilled glass and mash with a teaspoon. Add crushed ice to fill the tumbler, and then add the bourbon.
2. Decorate with mint sprig.
