The Black Marble

One thing that the overwhelming majority of tried-and-test cocktail classics have in common is their straightforwardness. The Black Marble, which some liken to a good Dry Martini, is no exception to the precept. The better the quality of Vodka, the better the drink tastes.

Orange Cosmo

A variation of the Cosmopolitan, this cocktail has Vodka, Grand Marnier, Cranberry juice and a dash of lime juice.

Green Devil

Green demons, dragons and hornets also feature in the cocktail repertoire, though, for most of us, a Green Devil is more than enough to handle.

Maiden’s Prayer

Rumour has it that this seductive little cocktail was invented to perk up the spirits of a young lady left sitting at a bar after her boyfriend had walked out on her.

Blue Devil

The Blue Curacao gives this stylish cocktail its striking colour – the gin, its punch. You can vary the recipe by reducing the amount of gin by one part but making up for this by using Cointreau and substituting lime juice for the lemon juice.

Snowball

This drink tastes as good as it looks. It’s simple and quick as well.

Caruso

Enrico Caruso was undoubtedly the greatest tenor operatic star of the entire 20th century with a unique quality in his voice. Whether or not this cocktail contributed to giving Caruso’s voice its unique depth of timbre and warmth of tone, this sure justifies its title.

Cardinale

This is a martini with a difference, first devised and mixed in Harry’s Bar in Venice. Today, it has become such a popular choice that it is widely available in ready-mixed bottled form.

Gin Smash

This is an extremely refreshing cocktail that is simplicity itself to shake and make. To vary the flavour, try substituting other kinds of mint for the fresh peppermint specified here.

Gin Sour

All sours are tart, lemony, highly-concentrated cocktails. As with many other famous brews, the basic recipe has spawned many variations.
